‘This process of the good life is not, I am convinced, a life for the faint-hearted. It involves the stretching and growing of becoming more and more of one’s potentialities. It involves the courage to be. It means launching oneself fully into the stream of life.’–Carl Rogers
“It sounds simple, but it’s not easy; things of value rarely are. Facing challenges and barriers alone can feel overwhelming, even isolating. I meet my clients where they are, and together, we work toward the intended goals…wherever they may take us, until we get to where you want to be.”
Shana Cole is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor who holds a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the top-ranked University of North Texas Rehabilitation Counseling program. Along with helping the general population, she also specializes in helping individuals with disabilities, particularly individuals with brain injury. Training received at the Centre for Neuro Skills and Select Rehabilitation Day Neuro Program provides Shana the opportunity to offer neurorehabilitation training for individuals with brain injury in addition to traditional psychotherapy.
Shana’s areas of education and experience include working with individuals as young as 12 years old, adults, teenagers, couples, families, caregivers, etc., from any walk of life who have concerns with or are experiencing anxiety, depression, communication issues, low sense of self, grief/loss, chronic illness, disabilities, addiction, and sexual abuse, to name a few.
Shana truly believes that the therapeutic relationship is the springboard from which desired change can be made. While her approach is fundamentally client-centered, she borrows exercises and techniques from many other theories to personalize each session for each individual client…no two people are the same, and counseling is not a “one size fits all” situation. What DOES stay the same from session to session and client to client is the unconditional positive regard, lack of judgement or criticism, and opportunity to be truly “heard” that every person deserves.
